“The most ethical diet just so happens to be the most environmentally sound diet and just so happens to be the healthiest.”
- Dr Michael Greger
LET’S TALK HEALTH
The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is one of the world’s largest organizations of nutritional professionals, which explains:
“a concise planned vegan diet is healthy, nutritionally adequate and may provide the health benefits for the prevention and treatment of diseases. These nutritionally dense diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, and childhood, and adolescence, older adults and for athletes.
Whole food plant based diets are environmentally sustainable than diets high in animal products because they use fewer natural resources, creating less environmental damage. Vegan diets reduce the risk of you developing certain illnesses, such as cardiovascular disease, type II Diabetes, hypertension, certain cancers and age onset obesity”
Animal protein namely meat and dairy products are extremely high in saturated fat and cholesterol. We as humans manufacture ALL the cholesterol we need so it’s very unhealthy to add even more from food sources.
Lipoproteins in the body transport cholesterol to the liver, which are then circulated into our bloodstream. High triglycerides and cholesterol have in nutrition studies been linked to insulin resistance, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and fatty liver. Dietary cholesterol essentially is provided from animal product such as meats, eggs, fish and dairy products. If you consume excessive dietary protein you will make excessive cholesterol in the body which may also be affected by genetic factors. However saturated fats found mainly in animal products raise LDL cholesterol much more than dietary cholesterol does.
The World Health Organization stated that excessive processed red and processed meats can be listed as a class one carcinogen contributing to the possible effects of colorectal cancer.. Further epidemiological studies have shown that there is an increased link with pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer.
♥ Whole food plant based diets reduce your susceptibility to develop heart disease, Type II Diabetes, obesity and cancer which are typically created by a unhealthy diet together with poor lifestyle choices. Dr Caldwell Esselstyn has been able to reverse long term cases of cardiovascular disease by transitioning his patients to a whole food plant diet. In my clinic NUTRITION4LIFE I have over the years been very successful in reversing age on set disease by transitioning my patients to a whole food plant based diet.
♥ The CHINA STUDY is to date the most comprehensive study to be carried out into the relevance of disease created by animal based products and how a whole food plant based diet can decrease age on set disease. Since the publication of the CHINA STUDY in 2006 many other studies have been shown that vegan diets can be used to treat everyday conditions and long term illness. Vegan diets have also been associated with a lower all-cause mortality (longevity).
♥ Animal protein is loaded with dangerous levels of poisons, and contaminants including bacteria, hormones, pesticides, and antibiotics which accumulate in the body manifesting in disease. All the flesh from chickens, turkeys, cows, fish, and pigs butchered every year in the USA has been found to have elevated levels of E.coli, campylobacter, listeria, and other dangerous bacteria. These contaminants live in the intestinal tracts, flesh and faeces of animals.
“According to a 2010 report in ACADEMIC MEDICINE, on average, UK and USA Medical Schools offer less than 19, 6 hours of nutrition education across four years of medical school. We desperately need to change our medical education structure”
Jennifer Joy Patrishkoff
OBESITY
♥ Did you know that more than two thirds (69%) of the UK and USA population are overweight and carry elevated levels of visceral fat (brown internal fat) around the stomach and internal organs. Obesity is associated with chronic disease including Type !! Diabetes, metabolic syndrome, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.
♥ Obese people live shorter lives, and manifest more chronic diseases. According to a study published in JAMA Cardiology, Researchers examined data for 190,672 participants from the Cardiovascular Disease Lifetime Risk Pooling Project and tracked BMI, cardiovascular disease incidence rates and mortality.
♥ Those with BMIs higher than 249 increased their risk for heart disease earlier in life. Researchers observed a higher average number of years spent living with cardiovascular disease in overweight and obese individuals and note that overweight individuals appear to live less due to early onset of the disease.
CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE
♥ “There are two types of cardiologist’s vegans and those who have read the data” says Dr Kim Williams who is president of the American College of Cardiology. Obesity, heart disease contributes to a high strain on our beloved NHS depleting millions per year! A huge burden on the Western World, however in my opinion, much of it can be prevented. Whilst obesity is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), even without this connection, consuming animal products has been shown to be an independent risk factor for CVD.
♥ More pressingly of concern further studies have shown that not only are animal products a contributory factor to CVD, but they potentiate the disease to such an extent that the disease state can essentially be reversed if ALL animal products are eliminated, and the patient is placed on a whole food plant based diet. This is extremely encouraging especially as at a time when coronary artery bypass surgery is the alternative, imagine the millions of NHS funds that would be saved by placing patients on a whole food plant based diet.
♥ In the USA there are incredible plant based clinics that focus on prevention in the healing of disease, one notable person who stated that a vegan diet saved his life is Bill Clinton. My vision is to see and participate in such clinics in the UK
DIABETES
♥ The intrinsic link between consuming high dietary animal fat diets and developing Type II Diabetes has been well documented with many nutritional studies proving that a whole food plant based diet is preventative and protective against Diabetes.
♥ Large cohort studies demonstrate that the rise of Type II Diabetes are demonstratively lower in patients consuming a whole food plant based diet, compared to their counterpart omnivores and vegetarians. Interestingly, those following plant based diets tend to have lower body mass indices, which are preventative and protects.
♥ A plant based diet normalises insulin and increases insulin sensitivity in an established diseased state, and in clinical practice this translates into reducing patients’ insulin requirements. Not only healthier for the patient but also reducing the burden on the NHS. For a disease that n the medical world is deemed incurable, in my holistic natural world phenomenal results.
CANCER
The World Health Organisation has stated that processed red and processed meats as a class one carcinogen and causes colorectal cancer, based on sufficient evidence from epidemiological studies. Colorectal cancer has been associated with meat consumption, breast cancer with dairy and egg consumption.
The American Cancer Society published their recommendations that cancer survivor’s should follow plant based diets that are high in fruits, vegetables, grains, pulses, beans and legumes, to support recovery and as a preventative measure.

BONE HEALTH In all the years that I have been lecturing the most common question I get asked is “but we need dairy for bone health” In truth whilst calcium is vital for bone formation , there are numerous nutritional studies to indicate that dairy sources of calcium are not in fact good for bone formation.
In one of the largest observational studies to be conducted, The Harvard Nurses Study, those who consumed excessive dairy, also had the most bone fractures.
Dairy creates an acid ash residue when digested which creates acidosis in the blood.
The body optimises health at a PH of 6.5 an alkaline environment. If the blood is too acidic the body will leach a mineral, namely calcium.
Bone formation is optimised when the body has an alkaline environment. A whole food plant based diet high in plant milks optimises calcium absorption.
Often articles are written in the newspapers supporting the dairy industry, cleverly disguised as a news article. The breast milk of an impregnated cow is NOT human food. Cow’s milk is pathogenic, it promotes illness. Organic, raw, grass fed, free range, skimmed or whole milk, all promotes illness.
Humans do not have the enzymes rennin and lactase to break down casein (protein) and lactose (milk sugar).
Animal protein degenerates the body and creates acids which lead to inflammation and pain. Animal protein is damaging to kidneys’ liver, pancreas, intestines, adrenal glands and bowels.
All animal protein is acid forming. Milk acidifies the body PH, triggering a protective biological correction, depleting base calcium minerals from the bones to neutralize the acid hit.
Milk does not build strong bones, it weakens them. Since we lack the proper digestive enzymes to break down milk, we get an increase in mucus production, creating obstructions within the body and intestinal walls.
Animal protein has been proven over and over again to “lock up” our lymph system and kidneys. This is what destroys your health since lymph is your “sewer” and a clogged sewer is never good.
Keeping the acids out of your lymph system is the key to health and this is done by eating your species-specific diet of alkaline forming raw living foods.
ALL dairy products cause and increase tumour growth and lymphatic congestion. Milk is hormonal growth fluid filled with sex hormones oestrogens, and progesterone. It contains high levels of IGF-1 bovine growth hormones which have been linked to increasing the risk of cancer.
AUTO IMMUNE DISEASE where the body becomes immunosuppressed, and produces white blood cells that turn on and attack the soft tissue, creating chronic inflammation, pain, exhaustion, leaky gut syndrome, food intolerances, and long term chronic pain and health issues.
Typically a diet high in animal products creates acidosis, which in turn can destroy the mucosal membrane of the gut, resulting in food particles leaking into the blood stream. These present a threat to the body and the immune sends out white blood cells to “kill” the food. This then results in chronic auto-antibodies that perpetually attach soft tissue. This results in an immune suppressed state.
A whole food plant based diet has been shown to reduce the inflammation, create alkalinity and heal the leaky gut to reduce the severity of Lupus, sjogrens syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroiditis, multiple sclerosis.
I myself suffer with chronic auto-immunity and have healed my body with a whole food plant based diet, reducing the severity of my illness. Read my full article in my blog on HOW I HEALED MY AUTO-IMMUNITY with VEGANISM.
SKIN HEALTH Nutrition plays a huge role in the well-being of your skin. All skin conditions are a manifestation of the internal environment, and leaky gut syndrome. Typically a high animal protein diet denatures cells, creates leaky gut, and increases acidity. It also creates inflammation and IGG antibodies which attack the skin.
Studies have shown that a diet rich in saturated animal fats can increase sebum production on the surface of your skin, clogging your pores, and creating external skin conditions. Furthermore refined oils and animal fats have been linked to poor circulation leaving the skin dry, dehydrated and ageing.
A lack of whole food plant based antioxidants, can also adversely affect the smooth structure of your skin.

KIDNEY HEALTH
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive disease that is characterised by a gradual lack of kidney function over time. NIH reports that approximately 26 million people on average have kidney disease, and 1 in 3 are at risk of developing it. A whole food plant based diet can help prevent and support chronic kidney disease.
BRAIN HEALTH A diet rich in the rainbow group of foods high in antioxidants, that are found in a whole food plant based diet has been shown to help with memory, and as such prevent and reverse dementia, together with Alzheimer’s disease. Parkinson’s disease which is on the increase can also be reduced with a vegan diet. Why is this? Clinical Research has indicated that a whole food plant based diet reduces inflammation which is implicated in many degenerate diseases.
The rich source of antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables helps to repair damage to cells and can help balance neurotransmitters for optimal brain function.
Additionally there are micronutrients called phytochemicals that are only found in certain fruits and vegetables that support optimum brain function.
DIGESTIVE HEALTH
♥ A whole food plant based diet can improve and support the health of the digestion system, preventing disease of the small intestine and large bowel, by feeding the good bacteria in your gut. Trillions of bacteria lie in your digestive tract and are vital for immunity, digestion, absorption, assimilation and elimination of food.
♥ Of the trillions of species of gut microbes that live in your gut, however some are healthy and others are not. A plant based diet improves the transit time and diversity of your gut microbes, thus preventing and treating conditions like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, inflammation and all auto-immune disease.
♥ A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, beams, legumes, pulses, and other high fibre plant based food improves gut diversity within two weeks. Researchers assessed gut bacteria composition in 248 participants over a two week dietary intervention that increased fibre intake. Those participants who consumed more fruits, vegetables, and grains improved gut bacterial diversity when compared to participants who did not change their diet.
♥ High fibre diets increase bacteria associated with anti-inflammatory compounds linked to improved glucose tolerance and metabolism.
